Way back when the colonists in America did a fine job --
Well no, in the war of independence the colonists had
no navy, any damage was done by French warships.

Browsing in the "Glossy books - (cheap) section of a "gardening
Centre'* (while my wife was choosing _which_ plant to select
from a pile of identical specimens);
Cynical of her too, but I can understand ----

my eye alighted on a 'Encyclopaedia of World
History;" I perused a section entitled 'American Revolution' out of
of curiosity .... it mentioned Lexxington, Biston Tea Party Bunker
Hill
and Yorktown ... but _nary _ a mention of French involvement ...
no fleet, no Army, no gold ... !
Actually we had Navy ships and Privateers that did well against
England.
It is nice to note that he does admit the French did some ass kicking
too.. ;-p
I believe you've missed the point .... the [USA published] book did _not_
acknowledge

I'm pretty sure I understand your point, if it is that
any nation that publishes books, does produce some
very slimmed down brief 'over views'.
By necessity - they skip many details.
In a way regretable, - but boy we all would be better
off if more of the 'great unread' would at least take
the time to learn something from them!
Yes, I'll certainly agree - and the UK does them also.

the fact that the 'revolution_ was a French inspired, French
financed and French army and navy fought war between two
European Countries which happened to be fought on a portion
of the North American continent.

Pray tell, please inform me of how you think that
our Revolution was "French Inspired"?
NO. It was inspired by the fact that
1) we were now capable of better,
2) at a time when Britian was mismanaging.

"French financed"
The French were not going to waste their limited
money on a cause that had no legs. It was years
of tough enduring before they gave any significant financing.

Hmm, ....
