Just strikes me as a bit "overquick" to then turn around
and re-use the name Virginia again for a class and ship name
for the subs. JMHO.
Ahhh, but Virinia is the site of the US Nav's largest base complex, and,
interestingly California is the ie of he US Nay's second largest base
cmplex.
USN has a fond spot in is heart or Virginia and Caliornia, and the 4 US
Senators
from those two states, who have very important committee assignments.
Not do fish not vote, Senators do. In Senate Armed Services, Senate
Appropriations, and Senate Finance committees.
Interesting, the committee assignments of the Virginia and California
Senators.
Regardless of which party the Senatos are, or which party has the
majority in the Senate.
The largest USN base is in California (by land area.) ;)
