Iran ought to be missing a good deal of its Navy, those boat operators ought to be feeding the
fish, and their craft should now be artificial reefs....Remember: these IRGC clowns were the idiots back in '87-88 who shot up passing ships just for fun, and got into hassles with heavily
armed USN ships, paying the supreme penalty each and every time.
this was 20 years ago.
Witness and survivors of that engagements are now at least CAPT. and have haved plenty of time to think and plan on this experience. I guess that will be not exactly a repeat of the 1987 incident. For start: how was permitted to iranian boats to arrive at very point blank range, 200 yds. or so, well inside of the range of everything save pistols and revolvers ?
What worries me is the detail of empty containers dropped on the wake of USN ships; for an USAian perhaps don't mean much, but for Italians means a WWI SOP of Italian MAS, when pursued by Austrian warship, they dropped depth charges, whose explodes under the bow of pursuing ships, damaging them and slowing them (mmmmm.... And 2000s ships have invariably the hull sonar under the bow.... towed sonar being of low efficiency in shallow water and conventional boats... *worry* )
Best regards from Italy,
Dott. Piergiorgio.
