One of the advantages of "playing" the flight sims is
getting a good idea of the hardware. The big iron
have Flight Management Systems generally based on
IRS and radio nav with baro altimeter, possibly augmented
with GPS. The FMS allows you to enter a waypoint as
lat/long, and you can enter an altitude constraint which
the autopilot can use as a "fly to".
