the USN would surely run the blockade, if china doesn't try to stop them
then there will be no blockade. china will look foolish.
The blockage is to maintain a siege. This means minefields. No one
is going to fire on anyone. You can sail your pretty ships up and
down the Taiwan Straits to show you flag if that will make you happy.
Are you willing to lose a ship to a mine do that? The minefields
will be clearly identified and the choice is yours. The only people
really interested in you sinking your own ship will be your Navy
Board.
What can your navy do? Fire on China? You'll be the one who will be
really stupid. Break the blockage by carrying in vital supplies to
starving Taiwan? Perish the thought. Supplies will get through to
the South Taiwan ports quite easily and without naval escorts. The
strategy is just that hostilities from Taiwan will cost them dearly in
their pocketbooks, in convenience and in international trade. Most of
Taiwanese owned production has already moved to tha mainland. With
war hazard conditions likely the US will be the only country to
continue trade with Taiwan. Taiwan does not have the range of goods
to export nor can the US buy enough from Taiwan to compensate for the
loss of international trade.
and what would china fo when the U.S. sweeps the minefields. either they
actively defend them or the efforts wasted.
