In this respect, it is worth noting that for all their experience the
British were not fully succesfull in "navalizing" the Spitfire. In
fact, I can't think of a single instance of anyone successfully
navalizing an a/c designed for land based use.

Note that, one, half of your examples come from after 1940,
and the pre 1940 planes were all ones where landing speeds
and airborne speeds were low, making free launches and
landings from a carrier easy.

Neither point applies to a BF-109 on a carrier. Plus, the
Germans, unlike the RN, *had never done any of this
before*.

Even the well experienced Brits, didn't do that well with a
navalised narrrow undercart fighter: Spit/Seafire...

I doubt the Germans
were going to get it right first time out of the box. They are not
going to know what doesn't work until they test it at sea.

Even assuming they finished the GZ they would still be years
away from having an oeprational air group.

Since there's only a couple of aircraft carriers at seas out of the 12 the US has at any time, it would have to be a terrific sucker punch to take out the US navy. ...
