In response to a question regarding an ongoing analysis of alternatives for the Navy’s future new cruiser, CG(X), Etter said that it is “too early” to rule anything out. Navy Times reported recently that analysts may recommend the Navy builds two different ships: a 14,000-ton derivative of the DDG 1000 and a new nuclear-powered 25,000-ton ship optimized for the ballistic missile defense mission.
That's battlecruiser size, just ask the Russians.
