Do you want to play a game - regional, thermonuclear war
By D. Kanecki

In 1983, a question was asked when a what is now called, a white hat
hacker, accessed a computer system at Norad. The question was, "Do you
want to play a game?" Thinking that he had found a new computer game,
he selected from this, "Yes, let's play global, thermal nuclear war."
The computer played the US and he played the USSR, since this movie
was made during the last years of the cold war. The problem, he and
his girlfriend realized, is that nuclear strategy is not a game, and
mistakes are deadly. The problem he had was to utilize the learning
the method programmed into the computer to learn that. Fortunately,
the computer learned by trying many different scenarios, and at the
last minute.

In 1968, the Original Star Trek, I know some in the beltway do not
like it when I mentioned this series, discussed the same issue
regarding orbiting nuclear platforms, and presented a solution to a
possible what-if scenario if a nuclear weapon explored 100 miles above
the ground. The basis of the what-if was to have various people in
leadership positions understand the realities of nuclear war. In
addition, in the series "Dr. Who," which ran from 1963-1996, and from
2005-present, which is the British following similar to star trek, the
discussion centered on what if European ancestors in the 14th century
would have retained the books and technology of the ancient age, they
would have had nuclear bombs and the ability to make them, but not the
social maturity to know not to use them, and could have destroyed
themselves and their civilization with their own hands and sowed
something that they did not wish to reap.

When I look at the situation today, I see the nuclear club is
expanding, and that countries once considered third world, and some
who are still, where they still use donkeys and ox carts in major
cities on the sub-continent and have only legislated the caste system
since the 1980's, have developed nuclear bombs along with cruise
missiles. There are two countries in particular who still have war
going over Kashmir area. They both have developed nuclear bombs, are
bilaterally opposed religiously on life as one is Hindu and the other
Muslim, and seem to be playing nice now. Then, there is Iran which
now, based on intel reports and progression analysis, has the
capability to make a nuclear weapon and probably at least 3 by now
along with a medium and long range delivery system. The problem that
exists with these three countries is that they think religiously that
they can speak for God and do his will for him. The danger of this is
no one speaks for God except God. When someone or a region does, this
means that they socially backwards and given nuclear technology along
with nuclear weapons would start a regional war because a Mullah or
senior religious official says it is because they are following God,
or Allah as used in the Muslim speak.

The problem with this is that the west would have to bear the result
of a regional nuclear war and the clean-up. The powers that be in
those countries would only care about the upper 5% and leave the rest
to whither, as demonstrated now by big gaps in standards of living in
those countries. In short, those toil, do not get the full benefits of
what they sow, even in the "Cloud Miners" of Star Trek, Mr. Spock
realized that proposition is not logical and not right in 1968
episode.

An example of a regional nuclear war in that area, could be this:

· The president of Pakistan has a coup against him because he is seen
as not being Muslim enough and starting to become too western. Senior
Mullahs who convince senior government and military officials that
Pakistan needs to move back to a Muslim state cause the coup.
· The access to nuclear weapons is gained because since Pakistan does
not realize the realities of nuclear war, they have not developed safe
guards to prevent the un-authorized used of nuclear launch codes as
the US, Russia, France, and UK have.
· The Senior Mullah is appointed president and top religious official
of Pakistan and wished to full his Islamic destiny, and tells the
people that they will go to paradise.
· An artificial incident is started in Kashmir and made into a
mountain.
· The launch of a nuclear weapon by Pakistan towards Bangalore, India
is begun.
· India notices the launch, and decides to launch it's nuclear arsenal
in a MAD, mutually assured destruction, way.
· The missiles hit, millions of people are dead, millions are so
serious hurt, that they cannot work or wish they were dead. The
farmland, water, and other natural resources are polluted with
Stronthium 65, and the ability of relief organizations to help is
hindered by the lack of access since both countries still have limited
roads and clean-up facilities.
· The citizens of both countries who can communicate ask the west for
help, and start to realize that nuclear strategy and having nuclear
weapons is not a game. However, it will take over 1,000 years before
both parts of the respectively countries can become habitable, and
they learn that they are now living on a thread, no more religious
war, the biggest action is how to get enough food to feed everybody
and how to rebuild shelters for the coming monsoon season.

The problem with this scenario, is that this could fit any Muslim or
third world country because there are people who still socially
backward, living the 14th century, and in power positions. Those in
power positions, who are educated and modern, are afraid to act
because of the vast social, educational, and financial gaps that exist
in the various groups of peoples in their country, that they are
afraid the those who follow the Mullahs will revolt and undue the
forward, modern progress that is started.

Although, the practice of religious is a right in the United States
and in many modern countries, there should a declaration by a world
body, that any country who starts a war based on religious philosophy
or uses advanced technology as nuclear weapons to threaten or advanced
its' religious philosophy will not tolerated in the world community,
and that such an act would cause them to lose their sovereignty and
have all modern technology controlled by people outside of their
area.

In some cases, when a world body will not or cannot act, then an
alternative method should be considered that mitigates or eliminates
the current danger at hand from those countries and areas.

In conclusion, I believe that all faiths are valid. But, I do believe
that Church and State should and always be separate. When a group
calls itself the religious right, to me this is violation of Church
and State, I become weary of that group, as this is the problem that
exists in the Middle East, Church and State are tied together,
strongly.

Access and Al-Queda, is it time increase medical personnel profiling
and religious groups profiling
By D. Kanecki

The last two weeks showed what happened and how easy it is for al-
queda through Muslim doctors to get access and commit acts of
terrorism. These doctors were able to get access because of the low
level of checks and balances that exists regarding medical
professionals. Based upon what has happened, as with the TSA, has a no-
fly list, security agencies as the CIA and MI5 should established no
practice list or advanced watch-list of medial professionals wishing
to come from countries on a al-queda watch list. This policy may cause
some to become under greater watch than it needed, but since the area
they are from is known for al-queda activity, and we cannot always
determine instantly who is al-queda, it is better to be safe than
sorry, and conduct a detailed background check on all medical
professionals coming from a country with strong al-queda allegiances
or ties.

With medical professionals inside a country already from areas of
known or suspected al-queda allegiances a complete background check
should be done them, and how they have responded to living in that
country. This would allow authorities to determine what type of
monitoring is needed to prevent any terrorist attacks. Since Al-queda
is successful in recruiting people with high educational backgrounds
and professional skills to perform terrorist acts world-wide, it is
time to start monitoring in open and non open ways to insure public
safety.

Trends in data protection and software development

Many businesses are realizing from discussions with white hat
hackers, those hackers who have been reformed and work as security
specialist that having many types of firewall is not enough to protect
your information assets. The problem is that there are many ways to
breach a wall, as shown in military history. Even the Berlin wall,
with its' many zones and no-mans land was stilled breached by 10,000
who wished freedom during the days of the cold-war. It is good that it
is finally down.

To really protect your information, it is has to be encrypted on a
file and a file system level as my Ksafe 2, Ksafe-3, Ksafe-5-file
system does. In addition, it has to work with all types of files as
mine does, and has passed the NSA's three level testing process. Then,
when the file system on the disk is encrypted, you move to a greater
level, from 27% with firewalls and anti-virus to 97% with encrypted
files using Ksafe. You will notice, that is not 100%, the reason is
that based on pathway and combinatorial option's analysis many of the
gaps are closed, but based on Goedel's Theorem (My first knowledge was
from the book "Goedel, Escler, and Bach by Douglas Hoffstaedler in
1980) is that a system can be describable or complete, but it cannot
be both. A computer system as designed and documented by people is a
describable system. A computer system considering what is documented
and not documented is a compete complete system. So, based on current
security documentation, the computer system is a describable system,
and this means security is still not complete!

A trend in software development is to link PHP with Delphi, Java, and
C based programming languages. This is a good mix because PHP is the
FORTRAN and COBOL of the web. What I mean by this, is that PHP
programs are written in the style similar to FORTRAN 90 and above, and
yet use COBOL concepts as database access to allow for multiple
functionality. For example, in PHP when a variable is accessed outside
of a function, the word GLOBAL is used. In FORTRAN, the word was
COMMON in a function. The other features of PHP is that offers many
benefits, and is easier to use than Perl and other scripting languages
which decreases the learning curve time, and allows developers from
the client side to work on the server side.

One good PHP IDE, integrated development system that I like and have
found to meet my needs and expectations comes from the sourceforge.com
group. They make Linux, and have expanded into the windows area with
PHP DEV for PHP Development and G95 for Fortran development. I
recommend both products.

Key Facts - The Value of Reason
By D. Kanecki

I had a chance to see a movie based upon a book that I read in the
summer of 1991, and the movie was produced in 1992 with the book was
written in 1928 by Virginia Wolfe. The important theme of the movie is
that the character to grow needed to let go of their past to move
forward. It took the character four centuries to learn this, when she
did, she was happy, and could see an angel watching her and happy that
she had learned this.
In considering the Key Facts of Reason, one must be able to look
forward and sometimes let go of the past. The problem of looking to
the past, is that one can be diverted to see what they want to see as
opposed to seeing what benefits them in the future. To see the
benefits, takes time, sometime, because the person may have many
things, but lacks something very important, company. Material things
do not make up fro the lack of company or the lack of someone to love.
The reasoning to get this comes when you are calm and have grown
through time.
Reason is what allows you to see the future and move towards
betterment. Also, reason is what calms you when walk through the mist
of change or uncertainty into a new time.
