HMCS CORNER BROOK is going up in August for a while to participate in
exercises in the Arctic. She will operate in the Hudson Strait/Ungava Bay
region, and off the Baffin Island coast.
My take is that this is politically significant, apart from pure military
aspects. While the sub will not go under ice, it doesn't need to - being
able to lurk in that area, in a conventional quiet boat, will give pause to
anybody looking to operate anything up that way.

Good idea, might even provoke some sort of "freedom of the seas"
noise. Now they need to rescue an 8-year old suffering from something
the local doctor can't handle, be photographed teaching polar bears to
play hockey and perhaps doing the "Polar dip" swimming act.
