To keep PRC at bay, make em know that an anti-Taiwan war will cost
big bucks and not just in weapons but in lost trade. Is there
some way that TAiwan could mine PRC harbors or shipping lanes so
as to drive up shipping insurance? Such mining would not have to
be really effective, it should just be a real possibility. Of
course this cuts both ways but if PRC attacks Taiwan, Taiwan loses
business anyway, we just want to make PRC pay too much for it to
attack Taiwan.
Build submarines so if there is a war, Taiwan can shoot up Chinese
shipping.
Where do they get those subs?
ISTR,Euro countries that build export subs will not sell to Taiwan to
prevent angering the Red Chinese,a very large customer of theirs.
The US doesn't make small subs anymore.
That would be the problem then. I could go into my opinions of that
kind of decision making. Could Taiwan concievably get design info from
Israel or Europe?

Israel bought their subs from European countries(Germany perhaps),they
would not have design and construction data. That would have to be licensed
from the very countries that will not sell completed subs to Taiwan.I doubt
they would do that.
That only way I could see it happen is for some 3rd party nation to buy
subs from Europe, and then "change their minds" and resell them to
Taiwan. Then Taiwan has to train crews to use the subs effectively.
