:In the situation in question the typical time served in the LA CO jail when
:caught driving on a license suspended for a DUI or what in CA is called "wet
:reckless" is anywhere from a few hours to 5 days even though the actual
:sentence is 45 days. This is due to a Federal court order regarding
:overcrowding in the LA CO jail system.
:
Cite for these numbers?
:In Paris Hilton's case she made the mistake of disrespecting the judge by
:showing up late for court and in general treating this like it was no big
:deal and blaming her handlers for not explaining what was going on. Keep in
:mind that Paris is a public spectacle by her own choice and this disrepect
:was broadcast worldwide. Contempt of court is what she is actually guilty
:of but like many judges he decided to handle this by making sure she got
:more time than normal for the offense she committed.
:
:A decision I might add I fully agree with.
:
No, in Paris Hilton's case that isn't all she was charged with and it
wasn't the first time.
:
:And I can certainly understand why someone who lives in the UK might not
:understand the differences between a State prison system and a County jail
:in the US unlike "Our Freddie"
:
So can I. What I can't understand is why so many people who live in
the UK act as if they know more about the United States than those of
us who live here.
