Yep - that's hardly a mild tremor out Frisco way.

Be tolerant of those who disagree with you--after all,
they have a right to their ridiculous opinions.

Local joke there, and probably in Japan too, "I think we just had a
shake" "Oh, how can you tell?" "Larry/Kukio is sitting upright"

Billy Connolly told of how he was bathing his baby daughter and all of
a sudden the water sloshed back and forth in the bath and she sat up
and said "4.6". Appears kids born in California get to judge these
things from young .....

I was booted out of bed in 1952 by the Tehachapi 7.5, largest in the
20th century, and 70-80 miles away. Family friend was getting ready to
go down to county offices in Kern, maybe 20 miles from epicenter,
when all the dogs started to howl, by the time he got the car started
the street was moving. He was head of the disaster teams for Kern so
he headed right on out.

There was a 7.3 at Landers and later ones in the 5-6 range in the
Mojave desert in 1992. My sister was on vacation there and acted like
nothing had happened, others in the RV park were getting out their
survival gear and looking for the enemy.
