Oh yeah, no guns below decks when playing with the missiles (well
ever),

No guns ever? Hardly. At a minimum they came out for security
violations (even drills).

I've been through that "security violation in the missile compartment"
drill numerous times and never saw a handgun or rifle. Being a Missile
Tech I obviously was back there and not by the small arms locker.
Maybe they did break them out, but I doubt it.

I was an FTB - and hence on the BAF. I was routinely issued a small
arm. (Then came the time we had a real violation - and I was directed
to load my weapon. Fun times.)

I do not recall ever seeing someone with a gun as part of a Security
violation drill. I thought they only got them out for "Repel Boarders".

I handled small arms for both missle and reactor security drills, as
well as for repel boarders security drill.

AFA topside during missile movements, obviously the topside watch had
sidearms, and we had one guy set up for "security" at the roped off
area with a sidearm also. Of course the base had another security
perimeter set up.

One guy? Try *at least* two - and usually more. The ECP had a side
arm, the guy at the other side sometimes had a small arm, sometime a
long gun.

I thought most of that stuff was a bit silly as if a one is close
enough to be shot, one is close enough to shoot a hole in the side of
the missile containing 20 tons of propellant.

Of course - being an MT you know full well that the missile propellant
would not be ignited by a bullet penetration.
