No guns ever? Hardly. At a minimum they came out for security
violations (even drills).

I've been through that "security violation in the missile compartment"
drill numerous times and never saw a handgun or rifle. Being a Missile
Tech I obviously was back there and not by the small arms locker.
Maybe they did break them out, but I doubt it. I do not recall ever
seeing someone with a gun as part of a Security violation drill. I
thought they only got them out for "Repel Boarders".

AFA topside during missile movements, obviously the topside watch had
sidearms, and we had one guy set up for "security" at the roped off
area with a sidearm also. Of course the base had another security
perimeter set up.

I thought most of that stuff was a bit silly as if a one is close
enough to be shot, one is close enough to shoot a hole in the side of
the missile containing 20 tons of propellant.
