Commendable sentiment.
I would not be at all surprised to see an official investigation and a
resultant Court Martial. The issue at question may well be that status of
the boat's sortie. Was she departing as part of some emergency or emergency
drill or as a routine scheduled departure?
If it was a routine sortie , the CO's may end up "before the bar" across
the green felt from an official accusation that he unnecessarily and
unwarrantedly placed the men out on the casing at hazard.
