since this is a naval group, i thought i'd ask what the collective
wisdom here sees as operationally sound (as opposed to politically
possible/adviseable) naval actions that Israel can take against Syria
and Iran.
Syria at sea, Israel chooses when to kick their backsides, how hard, for
how long. HANIT was surprised/unlucky/unprepared/some combination
thereof, an Israeli naval operation would avoid that with such a fresh
lesson before them.
Iran - Israel doesn't have a great deal of deployable, sustainable naval
capability, nor many allies en route, and the Iranians have significant
back-yard combat capability. Maybe a sneaky raid-and-run but not much
more.
