The released photos show that Hanit had the Phalanx mount, rather than
the OTO Melara 76mm. The official story also says that not only was
the Phalanx shut down, but the Barak missile system as well. (Seems
dumb to me, but what do I know?)
How was Hanit SHELLING Lebanese targets, then;if no 76mm gun?
I doubt they were launching Harpoons at land targets.
(overlarge warhead for the task, and Expensive.)
It seems that YANIT and her sisters are equiped with either a CIWS or a 76mm
OTO in interchangeable container mountings. Previous pictures may show the
CIWS, but has anyone seen pictures taken during this sortie or after the
impact ?

The photo I saw, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Idf-saar5-hit3.jpg,
was taken post-impact. Note the blast mark near the waterline.
