I laughed my *** off a few months back when I saw that somebody had
written in a post about Ivy Bells that the whole thing had been thought
up by a seven-year-old; it helped me understand that although Wikipedia
wants to seem authoritative, they're hamstrung by letting any idiot or
charlatan who wants to badly enough post any lies he/she wants.
No, they are hamstrung by an increasingly secretive and authoritarian
system of government and administration - whose interests lie not in
promoting an authoritative encyclopedia, but in ego masturbation.
