So, I suppose you consider the astronomical growth in the wealth of the Bush administration a coincidence?

I am sure you can quantify that statement.

Sure.

"Once"
"former"
"used to run"

cute words. Do get back to me when you've read the article.

BTW, Cheney still owns stock options worth many millions. He has pledged to turn over the proceeds to "charity," but he can still keep the stock.

This article barely qualifies as reporting with all the commentary the author included.
I've found when an author starts to use diminutive to describe a subject of their article the author usually is not trying to report news but instead to make it.

Well, I think he doesn't like da Shrub much. Nevertheless, his report is factual wrt the Canadian gold deal.

And, the pattern is not limited to Iraq

http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/31/news/newsmakers/fortune_rumsfeld/

In which there is this quote:
"Rumsfeld recused himself from any decisions involving Gilead when he left Gilead and became Secretary of Defense in early 2001. And late last month, notes a senior Pentagon official, Rumsfeld went even further and had the Pentagon's general counsel issue additional instructions outlining what he could and could not be involved in if there were an avian flu pandemic and the Pentagon had to respond.

As the flu issue heated up early this year, according to the Pentagon official, Rumsfeld considered unloading his entire Gilead stake and sought the advice of the Department of Justice, the SEC and the federal Office of Government Ethics.

Those agencies didn't offer an opinion so Rumsfeld consulted a private securities lawyer, who advised him that it was safer to hold on to the stock and be quite public about his recusal rather than sell and run the risk of being accused of trading on insider information, something Rumsfeld doesn't believe he possesses. So he's keeping his shares for the time being."

So other that casting stones you have any ideas what he might do ?

Well, so far Rummie's cleared two million profit on that stock.

If a person unloads a block of stock, then it goes up later, chances are no one would ask questions. I suspect that the cover story is just that - a cover story.

It is certainly suspicious that da Shrub picked this particular remedy, made by this particular company.
