Aspherical contacts

My new contacts are apparently aspherical (O2 Night & Day), I was wearing O2
Optix but they are not available now.

I had some initial problem in reading the 3rd line up in the chart which
surprised me because I didn't think my vision had changed. Then I was told
it might be necessary to decrease my prescription - maybe because of this?

Having worn them all day I think they're fantastic, I seem to have much
clearer 3D vision. I really don't think I want them to decrease the
prescription as I can see fine. Any idea why I may have had difficulty in
initially focussing with them?

And what does aspherical actually mean in contacts?
