Re: Bates method 'clear flashes' and neuroplasticity

This isn't a great personal resolve nor attacking, just asking a
casual question regarding accommodative spasms. Do you know the answer
to how an increase in frequency of clear flashes within a 2- and 3-
hour period over a few days would bear a resemblence to accommodative
spasms? It makes no sense.

Jumping in with some related and some unrelated blurbs here.

1) As I mentioned/warned: you walked into a group that has--over
YEARS--been populated by bright, thoughtful, compassionate, well-
meaning doctors who have helped, collectively, probably tens of
thousands of people. On this forum, they do it for free. Are they
perfect people? Prolly' not. Do they have EVERY answer? Nope. But
they've got a heck of a lot more validation, justification,
substantiation, evidence, and experience on their side than every
single wanna-be poser that passes along, stirs up $hit, then toddles
off ... leaving carnage and wake. I give them the bennie of the doubt
'til they say sump'n really stupid about vision/eyesight and don't
back down. I haven't seen it happen here.

Over YEARS, I have seen HUNDREDS of these doctors FLEE from s.m.v. at
maximum attainable speed, never helping people around here again. In
nearly EVERY CASE, it was because of Otis Brown (or others using his
tactics to push their equivalent position).

You are now dealing with the few remaining best of the best, by and
large--the ones who--despite this insufferable Otis Brown abuse,
unilateral lobbing of hand grenades, and pathological (I choose that
word for its clinical meaning and with all emphasis possible)
behaviors -- STILL choose to help people here.

They try desperately (as, clearly, do I) to shoo Otis away ... since
he won't engage, won't have dialog, won't answer questions, won't
explain gaping holes in his logic, insults, attacks, abuses, maligns,
threatens, lies, cheats, misquotes, misleads, deceives, harangues,
etc., etc., etc. ... but he never leaves.

You ignore him. He's here.

You try to engage fairly, squarely, and honestly. He insults, ignores
(see above), evades, etc., etc., etc.

Look at my now famous list of questions that Otis has NEVER answered.
Valid, aren't they. Why won't he answer them? Find out, if you can,
if you will, please ... and then help persuade him to leave. What he
offers here is ANYTHING but novel. Doesn't seem to work (except in
limited, defined cases long known). Didn't work with his niece, etc.,
etc.

He has hurt people. That's why he has an ongoing investigation about
his practices. It seems he's never helped anybody more than a warm
bag of rice over closed eyes would have (and without his ignored
risks....).

So you encounter battle-weary people here who are sick and tired of
people trying to convert them to "their way of thinking" when -- as
they constantly say -- they are bound by license, ethics, morality,
law, insurance, and integrity to treat in ways that are proven safe
and effective.

Our scientific and medical communities are NOT driven by faith and
conviction alone. Otis hates it. The country doesn't. It ain't
changing because of his pissy little whining.

Picking on Mike Tyner and Dr. Leukoma -- as you will see if you spend
any time looking around the 'net -- only increases the likelihood that
either or both will eventually say , "Ya know? I don't need this
crap."

At that point, it'll be left to those who "accomplished this noble
deed" to provide the same service to thousands that these docs long
have.

That'll be Otis ... hurting people faster than he can dupe them, and
paying no consequence (as yet). Will it also be you ... cowering when
the first significant harm is done, then changing IP addresses, e-mail
addresses, and moving on?? Saying ... gee ... I dunno ... when a
frightened parent asks about their child's cataract???

Tread gently here. The harm you are likely to do dramatically
outweighs any practically conceivable good.

2) Accommodative spasm. I'm not sure you understand it well enough by
the questions you're raising. It's a cramp -- a charley horse -- in
the ciliaries -- the focusing muscles of the eye. If you could get a
cramp in your thigh to release -- even momentarily, and even partially
-- you'd see a change. If there's an accommodative spasm component to
these "flashes," then it's quite possible that you're inducing -- via
something akin to negative accommodation -- a partial, and momentary
release of spasm--something that, again, periocular warming, vision
therapy, and cycloplegics do fairly well.

If nothing else, those methods help diagnose whether, and how much,
ciliary spasm is at play.

Carry on....
