im 41 in exact same position, same treatment from Uro and oddly, same
expression of surprise, in fact they originally diagnosed me with a
'stricture' because i was to young for prostate problems.
i am not happy about taking any medicine daily for alot of reasons. I
am 1 week on Flomax, and I do think it's helping. I am sleeping 7
hours strait now vs 5.5 or shorter. i also seem to be down on number
of times i urinate per day, i think i was as high as 12-15 times a day
and now seem to be around 6-8
i am holding out some hope that my bladder has been 'trained'
improperly due to prostate and that it will drop down to something
even more normal. i am not longer able to prove this, but I think i
have been dealing with since i was about 34, so it's about time
someone updates when prostate checks start !

I am 45, fit, 6' 175, a runner and workout. I have had problems
urinating for the past couple of years, and finally went to
urologist. Put me on Flomax, for bph. Thought I was too young, but I
see other guys on here with same diagnosis. Uro has recommended
possibly having "thermatrx" DOT procedure. I don't like taking
regular meds, and some of the side effects are wierd. e.g. light
heades, dry ejaculation, etc.
If you were me, would you keep taking the flomax, and wait for new
better procedures?
Also, I see many guys getting PVP, vs, thermatrx DOT. Is any one
currently better than the other for minimal invasive procedures?
Have extensive Hs with men in family and prostate cancer. Grandfather
died of it, Dad had his removed with cancer at 63, and now this. My
PSA has been holding at 2.6, but I don't want to mess this up with a
bad procedure, at my age.
Any advice from anyone would be much appreciated. Andy
