Re: Cystoscopy-Antibiotic



I had a normal cystoscopy 2/2/05. Anesthetic gel was inserted into the urethra and allowed to work 15 minutes before the flexible cystoscopy. No antibiotics or other meds were prescribed prior or post the procedure. Have you had any heart problems that would demand antibiotics prior to any invasive procedure? For example, some persons who have had heart value replacements take antibiotics as a precaution when having a dental exam or cleaning to prevent endocarditis.
