Teva Receives Positive Feedback on Second AOK Tender in Germany
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ: TEVA) announced that it
has received notification from Allgemeinen Ortskrankenkassen (AOK),
Germany's largest health insurance company, on the results of the most
recent tender for finished dosage pharmaceutical products. Teva is
very pleased to have been awarded a significant increase in the number
of molecules for which it can contract to supply during 2008-2009;
compared to the six products it was awarded in the first tender
earlier this year.

Epidemic
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced grants totaling $280
million to help fight tuberculosis, an epidemic that infects one-third
of people on earth and kills nearly 2 million yearly - mostly in the
poorest countries. The 11 new grants will speed research and
development on promising vaccines, diagnostic tests, and treatments to
help reduce the global TB burden.

Novo Nordisk receives approval in the EU for use of NovoRapid® in
elderly people
Novo Nordisk today announced that the European Commission has approved

Spending on Cancer Research in Europe Rising
Spending on cancer research in Europe is on the up, and Europe is now
a major contributor to the global cancer research effort, according to
the second cancer research funding survey by the European Cancer
Research Managers (ECRM) Forum. However, growing levels of bureaucracy
threaten to stifle future research, the report warns.

FDA Warns Procter & Gamble about Unlawful Marketing of Product for
School Children
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent a warning letter to
Procter & Gamble for making unlawful claims about its Vicks Early
Defense Foaming Hand Sanitizer (Early Defense) product. The agency
says the product's claims and directions for use cause it to be an
unapproved new drug under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. It
cited specifically Procter & Gamble promotion of Early Defense for use
by schoolchildren to prevent colds and to provide antimicrobial
activity for up to three hours.

AstraZeneca launches and prices a EUR750 million debut eurobond
AstraZeneca PLC, rated A1 (stable) by Moody's and AA- (stable) by
Standard & Poor's, priced a successful debut eurobond transaction (the
"Bonds") issuing a total of EUR750 million. The proceeds of the issue
will be used for general corporate purposes and to repay a portion of
the outstanding US commercial paper taken on in connection with the

Study Results for Aclidinium Bromide, a Novel Anticholinergic

inhaled aclidinium produced a significant bronchodilatory response in
17 patients with COPD according to results of a phase IIa trial
