Re: Animal Protein Bad For Bones?

Dot,

You have to take each one of these "studies" with a grain of salt. It doesn't take much to publish a study in PubMed. Did you notice that the abstract uses the word "may" all over the place? There is a big difference between publication of a study like this and publication of multiple study's that draw the same conclusion ... enough for the medical community to make public recommendations.

Not saying that these study results aren't valid. Only that they MAY be or they may not be. If you really want to drive yourself crazy, do a search on PubMed for "hair dyes" and "cancer". You will see so many different conclusions that it will drive you crazy. What is needed is consistent large-scale study results ... and then you will see the medical community take some kind of action in terms of what they typically recommend for patients.

This is my opinion.

Dot,

you'll find much similar information in the Bone Density Diet by
Dr. Kessler. You don't find osteoporosis in countries that eat a
vegetarian, low dairy diet. It's just a fact. Dr. Kessler last year was votes the best professor at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine.

This year he is working on other projected.

It's a great book, and belongs on everyone's shelf.

Especially parents, since the most important thing to do is build strong bones as a child which means no soda, less dairy, and lots of leafy greens.
