Re: fosamax

You have given me some interesting answers to my questions. I recently
saw an endocrinologist (sp?) and will return to him for my annual scan
in September.. I will talk to him about the test Larry mentioned. When
I saw him in June and asked questions, he told me quite frankly a lot is
not known about osteoporosis. By the way I am 5ft 2in and very small
bone and about 25lbs overweight, When I was young I was quite active,
ballet, tap, competition ice skating and tennis. There is no doubt I
had plenty of calcium and vitamin D in my diet. My mother was a
Registered Dietician and strongly believed in properj diet and exercise.
I suppose because I am small bone, caucasian and elderly, I was bound
to develope osteo inspite of healthy living.

I am puzzled when other doctors ask me if my mother or other family
members had osteoporosis. I am 70 yrs old. Most of my family are
dead. Funny thing is I dont remember anyone of my mothers generation
even mentioning the word "osteoporosis" I find it a bit odd doctors
would even ask that question. Anne.
