Could someone please explain to me the following joke, I didn't get it[snipping story]
Thanks kindly!
"The Twist" was the name of a dance popular in the early 1960s. (I think 1957 is too early for the joke to be set.) It became popular on the heels of Chubby Checker's hit, "The Twist", 1960. "Come on, baby, let's do the twist!"
The father meant to suggest that the boy take his daughter dancing, but being confused about teenage fads he got the name of the dance wrong, thinking it was the somewhat synonymous "screw"--which is also slang for "to have sexual intercourse".
