Maybe it's the heat or because I'm tired, but I can't make much sense
of the two sentences above.
If, for example, you were to buy something online and you'd have a
price 'zuzüglich Versandkosten' than these additional costs would not
be included in the price given. You have to add them to what you're
already supposed to pay.
I'd say that you'd have to exchange 'brutto' and 'netto' in these two
lines in order for the statements to make any sense.

Not if you render 'brutto' as 'basic'. For some clients, I charge a 3% uplift for extended credit (by agreement), so the net price is higher than the basic price, instead of lower, as it is when there is a discount to subtract.
