Hello Flemming,

I've read quite a few of the messages you've posted about
your struggles with H. Melville's Mardi. Something came to
mind. Since, apparently, there is no Danish translation of
Mardi -- but there will be one soon :-) --, have you tried
to procure translations of the book in other languages
(French, German or whatever) to find out what the
translators into these languages came up with some of the
sentences or words giving you -- and not only you --
trouble? Obviously, translations in other languages would
only help you if you know the language but I suspect that,
as Danish, German should not be too difficult.
