Usually, term that are most popular statistically would be local slang expressions OR Microsoft EN-RU glossary versions. Unfortunately, both are often bad choices.
What about other languages? Does usage statistics reflect the same tendency or it is different?
I suspect that there are many cases where Google (or any search engine) finds a heavily-used but scientifically incorrect term. The one closes to home for me is 'r.m.s. watts' in audio amplifier specifications.
