I recall a similar claim in the "scare book" called the Jupiter Effect
around 1980.
At that time most of the planets were on the same side of the sun and
some
feared increased earthquake activity or the end of the world.
Supposedly planet forces would alter solar activity.
No scientists took this seriously, but the new-agers worried about it.
One calculation I remember compared the total gravitational effect of
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, & Neptune all lined up -- vs the space shuttle passing overhead. The shuttle won. No EQ correlation with shuttle orbits.
