Damned Debunkers

Just to keep things interesting, I'm posting below a snippet from a post
found elsewhere:
"How could this [a reference to a highly dubious anecdote referred to
earlier by the writer] be applied to earthquake forecast debunking?
"scientists" debunking the earthquake predictions based upon
stats they use to "prove" that earthquakes are not worth predicting
according to statistics they make that show there are 6.0+. that is 6.0 to
9.9,occurring in the world, on average, every two days, so it is useless
to have anyone even attempt to try. Not only is this a LIE, for there are
not
those 6.0 to 9.9 quakes occurring every two days, but they totally ignore
the forecasters place, magnitude and window.
The writer was responding, as best she could . . ., to a post by James
Berkland, in which he includes a rather humorous anecdote:
"A woman and her Man of Science were driving through some hilly terrain and
noted a flock of sheep, all heading toward a pond. The woman noted that the
sheep had been sheared and commented on that fact to her husband. He took
in the scene and then answered autoritatively, "Yes, at least on this side."
When significant quakes correspond with syzygy, my critics may agree but
point out, "Look at all of those that don't." That is only half an
argument, not recognizing the big picture (like seeing only half of a
sheared sheep.)"
