@g10g2000cwb.googlegroups.com:

Watching the 1st one, and the initial part of the second, I found was
alternately laughing and complaining about the lack of reality.

Then, in a local Sunday paper, was a mention of a letter the Exec
Producer had sent out prior to the sequel explaining it was _meant_ to
have laughable dialog and 'great' FX.

That's inline with my comments when 10.5 first ran some time back.
I thought the movie had to be a big joke becasue it seemed they
were going out of their way to expand on every zany idea and wrong
idea the general public has about geophysics.

Sed quis custodiet ipsos Custodes?

It was almost so bad that it was good, but not quite. It's rather sad. Kept
my wife up (it was DVR delayed ) alternatively groaning, laughing, and
screaming with outrage.

The sad part is I think someing could make a good movie about earthquakes,
volcanoes or such .... if they tried no one seems to want to make one.
They take a perfectly good disaster scenario screw up the science and then
add really lame plot lines.

Its like a rock climibing move that mixes whar looked like rock from the
Dolomites, Maroon Bells and Rocky Mt Natn'l Park. Just dumb.
