Earthquake Window: March 25 - April 1, 2006

No April fools' joke! An associate professor friend of someone at work
predicted the November 03, 2002 earthquake, and impressed his colleagues.
He claims there is an earthquake window, similar to the one of November 03,
2002, that will occur between March 25th and April 01st, 2006.

The lunar perigee is on March 28th and the New Moon is the next day on the
29th. In addition, the plane of the Moon's orbit is nearly flat to the
plane of Earth's orbit about the Sun. Jan says he would rank the areas for
the occurrence of a 7.5 magnitude earthquake or greater as:
# 1 Turkey
2 Alaska
3 California
4 Japan
5 Burma
6 Peru

I can understand why people don't publicly predict earthquakes, even when
their sound educational background tells them this one "might be it." No
one wants to be labeled a quack or warn others unnecessarily. I accurately
predicted the Mexico City earthquake of September 19, 1985, based on a
hurricane tracking across the epicenter of a known seismic area I felt was
ready to go..and I was wary about saying anything, knowing statistical
averages. But statistics of it happening were in my favor, and I did
publicly predict the quake. It was the most sobering, awful feeling to know
that if everyone had known in advance, like I did...how many lives could
have been saved! I started building credibility by writing a paper
explaining how and why it happened, and how to prove it. When you are on
target, and don't say anything.who does that help?

So.thinking about the new information I've gained, I thought a 65% chance of
this new window happening was about right, and said my picks would be

# 1 New Guinea

2 Japan

3 Cape Yakataga area (Alaska)

Well....a few days later..New Guinea has had a 6.1!

Does anyone else have thoughts on this? The window hasn't occurred yet, but
is close.
