Are there any other geology/earthquake forums online besides Usenet
that people can recommend? Thanks.

Max

Actually a good question. Was wondering myself......

Problem is:

1) I'd like one that isn't TOTALLY overrrun with an assortment of science
kooks and frauds

2) On the other hand, I hate overmoderated boards with draconian levels
of
attempting to force everyone to "play nice."

3) It would be nice to have an actual geologist around or two.

There are several boards that meet the above criteria for meteorology,
but
none I've seen for geology. All the boards I see are for total moonbats
(syzyjob, etc.) or for religious apocalyptikooks all frantically trying
to
convince each other the End Times are coming by talking about quakes and
volcanies.

John, there are, in fact, Geologists here in this newsgroup. We just don't
particularly draw the same level of attention to ourselves as the kooks to
whom you refer above. You could try filtering out those you don't want to
have discussions with. In doing so myself, I have found this NG to be a
lot more user friendly.
