The quake you mention in 1986 was only an 8.3, not an 8.9.
The NZ quake was about 4 hours before conjunction of the Pleiades
and the Moon for that month.
Loma Prieta was almost 23 hours after that months conjunction. BTW,
the Moon was *IN* the Pleiades on this conjunction.
The great Sumatra quake was 64 hours after that months conjunction.
Questions:
Is there significance to 243 lunar sidereal periods? Or just that
it is close to an exact integer period?
What is the significance of the Moons position relative the Pleiades?
Or is it just that these quakes occured when the Moon was in the
same position in the sky irregardless of what that position happened
to be?
