Any advice for a Newbie?

Hello guys and gals!
I currently live in Los Angeles, and have worked as a recording
engineer for a few years. My experience is in large studios, mostly
doing music albums, with some post-production for film.
I'm very good with studio equipment, as well as extensive experience
with computers. (geek, and former repair tech)
I might be re-locating out of state soon, if I can find proper
employment.
The area I am hoping to move to, has a large cable network
Headquartered within the city. I would like to apply here as a
broadcast engineer. I know most television studios use most of the same
equipment, or similar to what I already know. This will be a change I
realize, but hopefully just a step sideways, not back.
What are the important pieces of equipment, common in modern television
broadcast? What are the most common video servers? Do most studios use
SANS systems yet? What about new HD equipment?
Any tips would be very helpful.
Any good web resources or recent books you could recommend would also
be appreciated.
Thanks
-Chris
