I've seen this symptom when the caps in the HV section go bad ( dry out, leak). This looks like bad
B+ boost, which feeds the CRT screen. If the picture was still sharp, good contrast with no
"bleeding" colors, it would be worth fixing. Find a servicing agency that is Sony authorized. At
least they have proper service info and probably have seen the problem. I have a six year old 27"
Sony, still looks good. Number one thing to do... keep the brightness and picture settings at a
reasonable level. These things come from the factory with these setting almost at max.. (so they
look good on the showfloor). After a couple of years the picture tube is cooked.
My seven year old Sony KV32FS60 is displaying a raised black level at switch
on with pronounced flyback lines.
After a couple of minutes of use the black level settles but is still raised
slightly with a blue hue and flyback lines are still faintly visable when
displaying black.
Just wondering if anyone else has had experience of this and if these
symptoms indicate a failing tube or hopefully something cheaper.
Thanks
Steve
