Port is both Power and Data.
Pin
1 +12V
2 NC
3 GND
4 RXD
5 TXD

Leica GSI (Geo serial Interface) is a fantastic concept, with the Older
instruments using Alpha numeric overlaying for getting data out. the newer
ones use statements like "GETWI11/WI31", that would fetch a Point ID and a
slope distance.
For example on a TC1000 up loading a "u" to the instrument initiate an ALL
measurement, this will send back after a successful measurement
11/21/31/51/terminator.
Decoding the GSI back to real figure,
11 is the Point ID block
21 is the HA
22 is the VA
31 is the SD
51 is the PPM.
Ask your local rep for a copy of the Wild Instruments on line manual
