As one who did the same thing after installing granite countertops,
I can only say: don't do that. The point-source puck-fixture halogens
create a lot of reflective glare from the polished stone surface.
It is *not* pleasant to work under such lights for very long.
If you've spent the bucks for granite, my advice is to spend what
it takes to get high-quality, commercial-grade fixtures. If you
go with T5 or T8 fluorescents, make sure you get 2700K or
3000K color temperature lamps, which will blend well with
the other incandescent light in the kitchen.
