The problem with the CFLs is the ballast, not the electronics.
I don't understand. In a CFL the ballast IS the only
electronic system.
The issue with CFLs and cold weather is that the mercury
pressure drops and this makes the lamp harder to start.
Special ballasts can provide the extra voltage needed to
start a CFL in cold weather. LEDs have no such cold weather
problems. In fact, their performance improves as the
temperature drops.
However, depending upon the design of the electronic driver
used for the LED, it may or may not have problems working
with your electronic timer switch.
