This patent has a longer list of references than I have ever
seen in a US Patent. If I had nothing better to do (or if
someone was paying me my usual consulting fee) it would be
interesting to read each of the references to see what they
cover. However, I think the real issue is not that the ideas
claimed in this patent may have been patented before, but
that those ideas may have been used for many years and are
therefore in the public domain. The list of references,
however long, does not address the issue of prior use. It
will be interesting to see what happens if this patent is
challenged.
