I'm thinking of making some attachments for my Victor cutting torch that will help me cut better lines. Some of the straight variety, and some of circles. Anyone got any links or pictures they'd like to share of such home made things? I was considering going and getting some of the track wheels used on sliding security doors and making a dolly for them. I got some ideas for long straight cuts, and circles, probably just a copy of what's available on the market. I've used a track torch a lot, but won't be doing that much cutting to justify building one or even buying one unless I can get it really cheap.
Basically, it would be to keep the standoff length consistent, and to end up with a nicer cleaner cut. I know that gas mixtures and a variety of other things have a lot to do with cleanliness, but I'm just not as steady as I used to be, and am looking for some gimmicks to help without paying what they want for primo goods. Plus, I like to make things.
You want skinny brass wheels and posts. If you're good at brazing, you could
pretty easily copy one of the designs that are out there. I could send you
some detailed photos - if you like, infer my actual email address from the
graphic at http://www.tinyisland.com/email.html and ask me offline. I have
both oxyacetylene and plasma attachments (both do straight as well as circles).
