Lead oxide and inverter batteries...

Hi all,
I use Inverter batteries at home due to power outages. Seeking your
help in knowing following:-
1> Would the batteries emit lead oxide to air that is supposed to be
harmful to life?
2> How do I detect level of emission, does that gets deposited across
object surfaces or flies out if there is good ventilation?
3> Inverter battery that I use looks quite "sealed" one, so is there
any chance still of oxide coming out in say vapurs?
Kindly guide.
Thanks for your time.
