Due to the age of the batteries, you
there are a lot of electronic products that claim to remove the lead sulfate crystals from the plates with timed high voltage pulses that areapparently have sulfated cells which is evidenced by "two of the batteries have a cell that never seems to make it into the green as far as specific gravity is concerned".
tailored to stimulate mechanical resonances in the plates and dislodge
the sulfate crystals that way. i don't know enough about how effective
they are to say whether they would help your batteries, but i was just
informed of some links to instructions on building your own electronic desulphator. i am going to play with them...
http://www.theworkshop.ca/energy/desulf/desulf.htm
there used to be a product called VX6 that you put in the battery and it would magically remove the sulphate from the plates. i guess it must have worked so well that the battery companies killed the guy or hid his invention away so they could sell more batteries....he or someone who also knows the secret seems to have resurfaced with a product called "Battery Equaliser" that purports to reverse/prevent sulphation by adding an ounce of it to each cell. they claim you can make your old battery new again and will sell you enough to do your two batteries for 19.95...better act quick before the battery companies find him and lock him away again...
seriously though, does anybody know much about electronic desulphation and prevention? there are an awful lot of products out there that make claims about extending lead acid battery life with high voltage pulsing to prevent/reverse sulphation. do they do more to extend life than we can do by managing discharge/charge carefully?
