Hello,

I have a brand new HP chemstation version B installation
and I am
getting this error message on multiple systems in which I have
installed the software on. I have ran the configurations and
tested it in every which way possible. I am at an absolute loss
as to what might be causing this issue. I have checked all the
permissions and am running the application as the domain
administrator.

When I attempt to run a data analysis, I get "Could not open
file: \aut9.tmp.mac"

PLEASE Help!

This looks like it is trying to create a file called "aut9.tmp.mac"
on the root directory of your hard drive. If your user ID on your PC
does not have authority to create files and write to them in the root
directory, this would cause such an error.

I imagine there is some setting in the Chemsatation software that
specifies a directory to use for temporary files. You should check
that setting, and change it to point to a directory or disk that you
-do- have permission to write to.

In any case, it is a really bad idea to use the root directory of any
disk as a place to put temporary files.

If this isn't the cause, you'll need to consult with someone at
Agilent (not HP) about the source of the problem.
