The University did not have any microscopes but I found this one on
ebay and purchased it.
AO Model One-Sixty MICROSCOPE TESTED
(1) - monocular head
(1) - eye piece with pointer; 10 X W.F.
(1) - body; - with a 1-3/8" in diameter illuminator lens cover
(1) - illuminator; it has a working 15W bulb in its stand. (We do not
know how many hours are left in the life of the bulb). It has an on/
off switch in front of the illuminator and there is an attached 120
volt power cord at the rear of the unit.
Coaxial focus controls; both left and right hand
(1) - Nose piece
(4) - Objectives; 4/.10, 10/.25, 43/.55 and 100/1.25
(1) - bolted on mechanical stage
It was listed in parts because they didn't know much about, they
bought it at a unversity sell, so I got it for $55. That was for the
microscope and shipping. I found a reference manual online so I even
have a clue on how to use it properly <smile>
The manual for this model says to use immersion oil. It suggested 2
different brands. Is that something that you have to order from a
science catalog or something that you can find at a local store?
Thank you so much for your help and pointing me in the right
direction. I think this will work for what we want to use it for.
