An abundant weed. Piedmont area of South Carolina. Xeric
pine-hardwood forest. The plant is generally prostrate. Newcomb seems
mute, but is occasionally on flowers in the SE.

Try _Richardia_ sp. [family Rubiaceae],
perhaps _Richardia scabra _ or _R. brasiliensis_.
