Hi Peter,
Is there anything known about what happened to the dust / gas from the novas
that created the neutron stars / white dwarfs ?
Common sense could suggest that (since there are so many stars in a
small amount of space of a cluster) this gas was captured and formed
dust disks around the million star systems still remaining in the cluster.
Since that dust is metallic, isn't it possible that planetary systems formed from it ?
Around old, metallic-poor stars that is...
