I loaded BOINC on a PC here and was reminded of the things I didn't care for:

(1) The settings/preferences are stored on a Berkeley server. That's an unacceptable security risk and is rather unusual. In fact, I don't think I have any other client software on any of my computers which contains disk space, CPU-intensity, and related settings stored OFF site. Someone hacks Berkeley, makes everyone's client go nuts, fill up the hard drive, suck up all CPU time, etc. No, I'd prefer to keep those sorts of settings on my own hardware. The login page isn't even SSL.

(2) The floating progress graphics are neat, but harder to read than the S@H classic graphics, at least on my monitor.
